President Prathibha Patil was enrolled biometrically in the National Population Register (NPR) at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

She urged all residents to ensure their enrollment in the NPR, which is a flagship scheme of the Government.  The demographic data of the NPR for the entire country was collected from April to September 2010 through house to house enumeration.

Once collected, the NPR data along with biometrics would be sent to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for de-duplication and degeneration of UID numbers (Aadhar). Registration in the NPR is Mandatory for all residents under the Citizenship Act 1955 and Citizenship Rules 2003.
